Sr SQL Database Administrator

This position is located in Scottsdale, AZ

Develops, implements, administers, and maintains SQL databases and policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases.

Responsibilities

  • Supports SQL Server versions 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 in physical and virtual environments
  • Supports clustered SQL servers and mirrored databases
  • Performs index maintenance and tuning
  • Implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes
  • Creates, maintains, and tests backup and restore plans for company databases
  • Coordinates physical changes to computer databases; and codes, tests, and implements physical database, applying knowledge of database management system
  • Designs logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database; i.e., how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method
  • Establishes physical database parameters
  • Resolves database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues
  • Activities involve interaction with development personnel to determine application data access requirements, transaction rates, volume analysis, and other pertinent data required to develop and maintain integrated databases

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education Skills

  • Experience successfully supporting and managing an enterprise network of database servers consisting of SQL Server versions 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 in physical and virtual environments
  • 5-10 years production SQL Database Administration experience
  • Experience with database mirroring and clustered SQL Servers required
  • Broad knowledge of current technology and implementation
  • 2-3 years in a Senior Role
  • SQL or similar preferred or 5+ years in Systems Administration role
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Good technical problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary to assist others in problem resolution
  • Able to work in a fast paced, team environment
  • Must be able to work with end users, communicate effectively, and maintain excellent client relations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented team leader with a great attitude
  • Experience with MySQL preferred
  • Experience with Cold Fusion preferred
     
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of 5+ related work experience and education
